Did you know…Doglio edition

We aren’t trying to put anyone on blast here but did you know…

Coffee is the world’s most chemically treated crop that humans consume and the third-most chemically treated agricultural crop, behind cotton and tobacco.

At the same time, Coffee is the most popular beverage in the world, with more than 400 billion cups consumed each year!

With coffee holding dual titles as most popular, and most toxic it was important for us to claim only one of those and leave the other behind. Yeah, you guessed it – Doglio Coffee is not about that toxic life.

We worked tirelessly to create a brand that is better for the environment and you and hopefully a winner at the popularity contest! So let’s take a closer look at what Doglio Coffee is all about.

Single-origin: This means our coffee is sourced from one single producer, crop, or region in one country. What we like most about single-origin coffee is its traceability. Meaning, you and we know exactly where the coffee is from and that it’s not a blend of different quality beans.

Shade-grown: We stick to growing our coffee beans in their natural habitat – the shade! The alternative, sun-grown coffee, removes the natural protective barrier of trees, which means a greater number of chemical pesticides end up being used to prevent pests and disease.

Organic: Since our beans are grown in their natural habitat there is no need for the the use of chemical-based fertilizers, synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or genetically modified organisms. Additionally, since no chemicals are used in the production, processing and packaging, our coffee does not pollute the environment or pose any risk to smaller animals like birds, rodents, or squirrels, etc. being poisoned.

Direct Trade: This model builds mutually beneficial and respectful relationships with farmers and roasters and ensures fair prices for the harvesters. It is important to us that the farmers are rewarded for the fruits of their labor and have stability in a market that is increasingly unstable.
